REINTJE JACOBS

multidisciplinary designer and maker

I am an artist and designer currently living in Ghent where I work out of my home studio. My work covers a diverse range of fields, from lino-prints and ceramics to furniture design and small-scale architectural projects.

As a former architect, my art is strongly influenced by the colours and shapes of the modernist and post modernist movements of the 20th century. I am inspired, among others, by artists like Alexander Calder and Dubuffet, and by the diverse work of Italo-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi. Bold colours, humour and an appreciation for the imperfect and the playful are themes that run throughout my work.

Other themes that fascinate me are the ocean, remote islands and all things botanical. These subjects make an occasional appearance in my art as well.
